Our Beginnings

Catcher was founded in Tainan, Taiwan, by the late Hong Lao Ju, who started a small die-casting shop making home appliance casings. In 1984, his eldest son, Hong Shui Shu (Allen), made a life-changing decision — leaving his medical career to take charge of the struggling family business. Where others sought certainty, Allen chose conviction — a path filled with uncertainty, but also purpose. As the only college graduate in the family, he immersed himself in German industrial journals, searching for the next leap in die-casting technology. His discovery — magnesium–aluminum alloy die casting — would redefine the company's direction and lay the foundation for its rise.

The Spark of Innovation

Working alongside his brothers Hong Tien Tzu (David) and Hong Shui Sung, Allen began experimenting in a small, garage-sized workshop. The process was grueling — months of failed trials, late nights, and quiet determination. Through perseverance and precision, Catcher became the first in Asia (ex-Japan) to master magnesium–aluminum alloy die casting. That breakthrough marked the birth of Catcher's DNA: innovation born from curiosity, courage, and craft.

Breakthroughs and Growth

Catcher's turning point came when the hard disk drive (HDD) industry emerged, creating demand for die-casted actuator arms. From that opportunity, Catcher's craftsmanship found its place on the global stage.

When design met engineering in the age of personal computing, Catcher's work quietly powered the products that defined a generation.

From the iconic "sunflower" desktop that revolutionized desktop designs to the sleek unibody aluminum laptop that redefined portability, Catcher helped bring vision to life for the world's most innovative brands. By the 2000s, the company had grown from a small factory into a trusted partner to global OEMs, operating across Taiwan and China.

Strengthening Governance and Expanding into High-Value Sectors

Secured ISO 13485, collaborated with ITRI on surgical tools, and launched a share buyback to reinforce strategic growth and shareholder value.

Catcher obtained ISO 13485 certification for medical device quality management systems.

Laying the Foundation for Future Growth

Resolved to sell Catcher Technology (Taizhou) and Catcher Precision (Taizhou), marking the company’s exit from the smartphone business.
